Wessely destacan la importancia de trabajar con los pobres del mundo industrializado del siglo XXI. La jerarquía es entendida como triangular, en la que el obispo como cabeza tiene sus colaboradores en función del (...) grado del sacramento que han recibido. El diácono permanente está llamado non ad sacerdotium sed ad ministerium episcopi. Su lugar eclesial y eclesiológico queda claro y, sin embargo, quedan todavía muchas dudas, críticas y actitudes de desconfianza hacia el diaconado. Dass deutsche Ärzte während des Nationalsozialismus hunderttausende Menschen zwangsweise sterilisieren halfen und viele zehntausend Psychiatriepatienten und Anstaltsbewohner töteten, bleibt bis heute verstörend. Solche Verbrechen waren nur möglich, weil, neben politischen und gesellschaftlichen Bedingungen, Komplexität vereinfachende Ideologien auf einer Massenebene an individuelle regressive Abwehrstrukturen der Täter anknüpften. In der Psychiatrie des NS entfaltete sich das destruktive Potential der kollektiv geteilten Phantasmen von Reinheit und Nation. Anhand von historischen Kreuzungspunkten lässt sich zeigen, dass sozialpsychologische Dynamiken und gesellschaftliche Prozesse sich wechselseitig radikalisierten. Diese (...) Radikalisierungsprozesse werden an drei Wegmarken aufgezeigt: 1933, als das Zwangssterilisationsgesetz verabschiedet wurde, 1942, als die zentrale Vernichtungsaktion gegen psychisch kranke Menschen in dezentraler Weise fortgesetzt wurde, und 1947, als die zaghaften Versuche der Aufklärung in bleiernes Schweigen übergingen. Dabei wird u.a. auf die Schriften von Annemarie Wettley zurückgegriffen, die sich als eine der wenigen mit ihren Taten auseinanderzusetzen versuchte. (shrink)

Anhand der Erinnerungskultur der NS-Psychiatrieverbrechen in den ersten Nachkriegsjahrzehnten wird der Frage nachgegangen, wie sich Erinnern und Gedenken gestalten lassen. Erinnern, Gedenken und Bewusstsein stehen in dynamischer Beziehung zueinander: Je nach Perspektive, ob der des Opfers oder des Täters, war das, was erinnert, wessen gedacht und was bewusst wurde bzw. unbewusst bleiben musste, sehr unterschiedlich. Durchgesetzt hat sich das Täter-Opfer-Narrativ der deutschen Nachkriegs-Psychiater, das die verstörende Realität, als Wissenschaft, als Institution und als Individuen so willfährig für ein verbrecherisches Regime gewesen (...) zu sein, verleugnen wollte. An dieser spezifischen »Erinnerungskultur« wird gezeigt, dass Erinnern und Gedenken Konstruktionen aus der Jetztzeit über die Vergangenheit sind und von der jeweiligen Gegenwart des Erzählenden geformt werden. Eine Aufführung der »Antigone« in der Erlanger psychiatrischen Anstalt 1946 wird als Rahmen gewählt, um die sich aus der Erinnerungskultur der NS-Psychiatrieverbrechen ergebenden ethischen Fragestellungen auf einer anderen Ebene zu betrachten. Research suggests that sedentary behavior is negatively associated with cognitive outcomes. Interrupting prolonged sitting has been shown to improve cognitive functions, including executive functioning, which is important for academic performance. No research has been conducted on the effect of standing on EF in VET students, who make up a large proportion of the adolescent population and who are known to sit more than other students of this age. In this study, we investigated the acute effects of reducing SB by short (...) time standing on EF in vocational education and training students. In a randomized crossover study, 165 VET students were first taught for 15 min in seated position. After this, they performed while seated the Letter Memory Test for updating, and the Color Shape Test for shifting and inhibition. Students were randomly assigned to a sitting or standing condition. All students were taught again for 15 min and then took the same tests in the condition they were allocated to, respectively, standing or seated. After 1 week, the test procedure was repeated, in which students switched conditions. Mixed model analyses showed no significant effect of sitting or standing on updating, shifting, or inhibition. Also, no significant differences were found for the order of condition on updating, shifting, or inhibition. Our results suggest that 40 min of standing does not significantly influence EF among VET students. (shrink)

Das Philosophieren folgt dem Bedürfnis von Menschen, sich die Welt erschließen und erklären zu wollen. Dabei geht es oft um Dinge, auf die es keine eindeutigen Antworten gibt. Das Philosophieren mit Kindern - als Unterrichtsprinzip - greift Fragen von Kindern auf und eröffnet (methodische) Möglichkeiten für das Betrachten, Staunen und Nachdenken als Welterschließung. Transdisciplinary research knits together knowledge from diverse epistemic communities in addressing social-environmental challenges, such as biodiversity loss, climate crises, food insecurity, and public health. This paper reflects on the roles of philosophy of science in transdisciplinary research while focusing on Indigenous and other subaltern forms of knowledge. We offer a critical assessment of demarcationist approaches in philosophy of science and outline a constructive alternative of transdisciplinary philosophy of science. While a demarcationist focus obscures the complex relations between epistemic communities, transdisciplinary (...) philosophy of science provides resources for meeting epistemic and political challenges of collaborative knowledge production. Reports of ethical violations by upper level managers continue to multiply despite increasing attention being given to ethics by firms and business schools. Much of the analysis of these violations focuses on either these managers'lack of operational principles or their willingness to abandon principles in the face ofcompetitive pressures. Much of the attention by firms and business schools focuses either on the articulation of operational principles (a deontological approach) or on the training of managers to sort their way through subtle (...) ethical dilemmas in the face of competitive pressure (a utilitarian approach). While valuable, these approaches alone are incomplete.This paper suggests that many ethical violations by upper managers are the by-product ofsuccess — not of competitive pressures. Our research suggests that many managers are poorly prepared to deal with success. First, success often allows managers to becomecomplacent and to lose focus, diverting attention to things other than the management of their business. Second, success, whether personal or organizational, often leads toprivileged access to information, people or objects. Third, with success usually comes increasinglyunrestrained control of organizational resources. And fourth, success can inflate a manager's belief in his or her personalability to manipulate outcomes. Even individuals with a highly developed moral sense can be challenged (tempted?) by the opportunities resulting from the convergence of these dynamics. We label the inability to cope with and respond to the by-products of success the Bathsheba Syndrome, based on the account of the good King David (a story familiar in a variety of traditions). Recognition of this phenomenon implies that we change or broaden our approach to the teaching of business ethics. It also implies that organizations must re-evaluate and change structures, procedures, and practices which enhance the likelihood of managers falling victim to the Bathsheba Syndrome. (shrink)

This article addresses ontological negotiations in the Global South through three case studies of community-based research in Brazil and Ghana. We argue that ontological perspectives of Indigenous and other subjugated communities require an ontological pluralism that recognizes the plurality of both representational tools and ways of being in the world. Locating these two readings of ontological pluralism in the politics of the Global South, the article highlights a wider dynamic from ontological paternalism to ontological diversity to ontological decolonization.
